1 Samuel 30:7-8 NIV Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelek, “Bring me the ephod.” Abiathar brought it to him, [8] and David inquired of the LORD, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?” “Pursue them,” he answered. “You will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue.”
War is often won not only by weapons but by great tactics and plans, employing the element of surprise or taking advantage of specific vantage points. In the history of the Israelites, they waited upon God for guidance on how to approach the enemy, be it in the plain or in the hill country. God often did guide them and it is on the basis of this leading of the Lord was victory assured. We often do not know how to overcome our life’s battles or the enemies unless we have divine revelation from God - spiritual intelligence.
David is a perfect example of a solider who sought the face of God for guidance in each and every situation At one of the lowest points in his life was when he came from a war and finding that his wives and children alongside those of his soldiers had been plundered from Ziklag by the Amalekites.
The situation was so bad that the soldiers thought of stoning him, but David encouraged himself in the Lord. He then called for the ephod which were instruments to enquire of the Lord, and he asked the Lord, “shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them?”
And God answered him, “Pursue, for thou shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” It was on the basis of this leading of God, that David overcame the enemy and recovered.
You too shall recover all that the enemy has stolen from you. Seek God’s way and he will show you the right way to take a stand against the devil’s schemes!
As you pray, pray for wisdom from God to help you stand in victory!
