Jeremiah 1:11-12 NKJV Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Jeremiah, what do you see?" And I said, "I see a branch of an almond tree." [12] Then the LORD said to me, "You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word."
Sight – is the ability to see. That is to process images in the natural, and to make perception of it through the eyes. Someone without sight is blind.
Vision – refers to the mental image that is formed of the future, that provides a guiding basis/ direction for the course of life of a person, group or corporate body.
Spiritual sight – is the ability to see things that are not visible to the natural eye. With the legal access only being the Holy Spirit.
The Need for the Right Vision
Without sight, we are blind
- Luke 6:39 NKJVAnd He spoke a parable to them: "Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch? If thy eye be single -right vision
Matthew 6:22-23 NKJV"The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. [23] But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
1. God made man with a purpose and vision for his existence. Corporately and as well individually.
Genesis 1:26 NKJV Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our Image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations."
2. Without vision – life has no meaning. Vision answers the question – why do I exist? Vision is the precursor to the manifestation
Proverbs 29:18 KJV Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.Proverbs 29:18 AMPWhere there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained; But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God].
3. The Holy Spirit is given to REVEAL to us, and to make us SEE right, the things of GOD.
John 16:12-15 NKJV "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. [13] However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. [14] He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. [15] All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
4. False visions lead to deception and destruction.
Acts 8:9-12 AMP Now there was a man named Simon, who previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great. [10] They all paid [a great deal of] attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is what is called the Great Power of God!” [11] They were paying attention to him because for a long time he had mystified and dazzled them with his magic. [12] But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, both men and women.
5. Divergent visions lead to divisions. Multiple visions lead to confusion.
Amos 3:3 NKJV Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?Matthew 6:22-23 NKJV "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. [23] But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
HOW CAN WE HAVE THE RIGHT VISION
1. HAVING A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. BEING BORN AGAIN, EXPERIENCING SPIRITUAL BIRTH.
John 3:3-6 NKJV Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." [4] Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" [5] Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. [6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
2. MEDITATING ON THE WORD OF GOD. IT IS THE LENS THROUGH WHICH WE JUDGE.
Joshua 1:8 NKJV This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Psalm 1:1-2 NKJV Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; [2] But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.
3. SPENDING TIME IN PRAYER. WATCHING AND PRAYING.
Habakkuk 2:1-3 NKJV I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected. [2] Then the LORD answered me and said: "Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. [3] For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.
Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV 'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'
MOST IMPORTANTLY OBEDIENCE TO THE HEAVENLY VISION
PETER – SAID – NOT SO LORD
Acts 10:9-16 NKJV The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. [10] Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance [11] and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. [12] In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. [13] And a voice came to him, "Rise, Peter; kill and eat." [14] But Peter said, "Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean." [15] And a voice spoke to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed you must not call common." [16] This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.
PAUL – WAS OBEDIENT
Acts 26:19-21 NKJV "Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, [20] but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. [21] For these reasons the Jews seized me in the temple and tried to kill me.
Prayer Verses for the Right Vision
